Nathan Peck is based in New York City and has performed a wide range of artists such as Maynard Ferguson, Roger Humpgries, Jimmy Ponder, Maria Muldaur, Bonnie Tyler, Sean Pelton, James Williams, Ralph Lalama, Jeremy Pelt, Ari Hoenig, Shahin Novrasli and has performed in over 30 countries. He is equally at home on his 1917 Pfretzschner double-bass as he is on his Sadowsky NYC 5-string. "Doubling on upright and electric has enabled me to become the versatile player I saw in myself at age 14 when I started. The amount of styles I get to slip into is massive! I can play a straight-ahead session on upright one day, and a reggae session on electric the next. There are too many styles and genres to be a stickler. One of my favorite approaches is to cross the function of each instrument: play funk and rock on upright and jazz on electric bass!" In Nathan's own group, 'The Funky Electrical Unit', he does just that and has performed at Iridium, 55 Bar, Smoke Jazz Club, Zinc Bar, Blue Note, Fat Cat and Nu Blu among others.

For the last 15 years Nathan has toured and recorded with a group lead by thrash-metal guitarist Alex Skolnick- a trio that blends hard rock, heavy metal and jazz. Then group has released 5 records to critical acclaim on Palmetto, their new record 'Live Unbound' is on sale now and a 6th record will be released late 2018.

"Nathan Peck personifies what it means to be a top-tier musician in New York City. Already a first-call veteran of the straightahead jazz scene on upright bass, Nathan extends his gift for getting inside grooves to the R&B, funk, rock and hip hop realms on the electric bass guitar via his breakout album, Top Dead Center. Live, he mans both electric and upright to lead his uber-talented band (drummer Andrew Atkinson, keyboardist Brtyan Reeder and guitarist Alex Skolnick) through grease-lined originals and vividly re-imagined covers. From his early days with Maynard Ferguson and Mark Murphy to his current, cutting-edge role in guitar god Alex Skolnick's trio, Nathan’s musical journey has readied him to forge his own funky path. The starting point? His weekly residency at Smoke Jazz & Supper Club, beginning Wednesday, Sept. 21st 2016, at 11:30PM."

This CD is an inspiration to hear, great writing and playing all around."
